Das italienische Langschwert wird samt lederbezogener Holzscheide mit Stahlbeschlägen geliefert. Die Ära des Langschwertes umfasste fast drei Jahrhunderte (von ca. 1350 bis 1650) und dies zweifelsohne, weil es ausgezeichnete Arbeit leistete! Dieses Schwert besaß ein charakteristisches Kreuzgefäß, eine lange zweischneidige Klinge und war gleichermaßen dazu geeignet, sowohl leicht als auch schwer gepanzerten Widersachern entgegenzutreten. Seine besonders lange Klinge bot die nötige Reichweite und Hebelkraft für kraftvolles Zustechen und Schneiden, während seine lange Parierstange und sein schwerer Knauf als Schlagwaffen eingesetzt werden konnten und auch dazu dienen konnten, sich einzuhaken und den Gegner aus dem Gleichgewicht zu bringen oder seine Waffe zu kontrollieren. Wenn es galt, schwere Plattenrüstung zu durchdringen, waren Hiebe mit der Klinge nahezu wirkungslos und wurden oft zugunsten der sogenannten Halbschwert-Technik unterlassen: Bei dieser Kampfart hielt der Schwertkämpfer den Griff mit einer Hand und umfasste die Klinge mit der anderen, um so die Schwertspitze gezielter zu führen und präziser durch die Lücken und Gelenke der Ritterrüstung zu stechen.
