With the introduction of the KA-BAR Becker Tac Tool, there is finally a tool-knife designed for the needs of the Tactical Officer. The Tac Tool was developed in close consultation with John Benner, 20-year field commander of the Hamilton County Ohio Police Association SWAT Team, and President and Chief Instructor of the Tactical Defense Institute. Tac Tool's smash, bach, pry, hammer and cut. When you leave the battering ram at the door, the Tac Tool gives you a fistful of handy power. You can lift stubborn hinge pins, pry open doors and windows, quickly cut "550 cord", hammer glass out of the way, or use it as a knife. The blade is finished with a durable reinforced epoxy coat. The sheath is ambidextrous and is compatible with most tactical belts and LBE systems. The blade is made of 1095 Cro-van, which is like 1095 carbon - it is a low alloy carbon steel but with chrome and vanadium carbides…to provide extra strength and wear resistance.

KA-BAR es un legendario fabricante estadounidense de cuchillos con más de un siglo de historia. La marca es conocida por proveer armas al Ejército de los Estados Unidos y fabricar cuchillos para una amplia gama de aplicaciones. El origen del nombre KA-BAR está ligado a una leyenda. En 1897, un grupo de inmigrantes de Sheffield fundó la Tidioute Cutlery Company, que posteriormente se convertiría en Union Cutlery Co. En 1923, la empresa recibió una carta de agradecimiento de un cazador, agradeciéndoles por un cuchillo de alta calidad que le salvó la vida. El cazador fue atacado por un oso cuando su arma falló. Finalmente, lo mató con un cuchillo comprado a Union Cutlery Co. Sin embargo, su nota de agradecimiento era tan ilegible que era imposible descifrar nada más que "KA" y "BAR" (de "mató a un oso"). Así nació la nueva marca:

KA-BAR alcanzó fama mundial durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. En 1942, la compañía desarrolló el USMC Mark II (cuchillo de combate/utilitario), que fue adoptado por el Ejército de los Estados Unidos. Este cuchillo tenía una hoja de aproximadamente 18 cm de largo y un mango de cuero. Su fiabilidad y versatilidad lo hicieron popular entre los militares, participando en numerosas operaciones militares desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial hasta las guerras de Irak y Afganistán.

Hoy en día, KA-BAR ofrece una amplia gama de cuchillos tácticos y militares. La línea de productos también se ha ampliado para incluir navajas plegables y accesorios de marca. KA-BAR utiliza principalmente acero al carbono 1095 Cro-Van y D2 para sus cuchillos.
