Les débuts de la Ontario Knife Company sont enveloppés de mystère dans un passé qui s'efface. Il semble certain que trois hommes - William B. Ensworth, Charles Albert Brace et William Maudsley - étaient présents dès le début à Naples, New York, en 1889. Le nom de la société provient du comté d'Ontario où Naples était située. Vers 1902, un déménagement a été effectué de Cadiz à Franklinville car la société continuait de croître et nécessitait à nouveau plus d'espace et de puissance. C'est l'emplacement actuel de la Ontario Knife. De plus, le 12 août 1902, la société a été constituée en société et a conservé le nom de Ontario Knife Company.
