Wood Jewel Little knife (Pikkupuukko) is a fine piece of handcraft made in the Finnish part of Lapland in a traditional northern Scandinavian way. The blade is 5.7cm (a little over 2 inches) long, very sharp, and is made from Quality High Carbon Steel hardened to HRC 63-65 and tempered to HRC 59 to balance ductility and brittleness. The blade extends with an internal tang secured to the top of the handle with a rivet. The blade is natural unpolished carbon black except for the grind. The handle is made from a combination of curly birch, thin layers of leather and reindeer antler. It has a well designed shape which fits well in the hand and it it is finished off very smoothly without being slippery. The sheath is made from wet-formed cow hide and it has a reindeer leather belt hanger attached to it.

Wood Jewel est un fabricant de couteaux finlandais réputé. Fondé au début des années 1980. Son propriétaire et PDG, Kauko Raatiniemi, a commencé à créer des montres et divers accessoires en bois. Puis, en 1995, son hobby s'est transformé en une entreprise à part entière, qui emploie aujourd'hui une vingtaine de personnes. Wood Jewel fabrique divers articles, mais son produit le plus populaire est le traditionnel couteau finlandais puukko. Les couteaux Wood Jewel ont un aspect authentique et sont dotés de manches en matériaux naturels comme le bouleau de Carélie et le bois de renne. Les lames sont en acier à haute teneur en carbone. Début 2000, le fils de Kauko, Tuomas Raatiniemi, a commencé à fabriquer des couteaux. Aujourd'hui, Wood Jewel produit environ 50 000 couteaux par an. Tous les couteaux sont livrés avec un étui en cuir véritable. Du fait de leur fabrication artisanale, les couteaux réels peuvent différer de ceux présentés sur la photo.
