Le couteau Bowie est une arme blanche emblématique nommée en l'honneur de James Bowie, héros de la Révolution texane. Le premier couteau Bowie a été conçu dans les années 1830 spécialement pour lui par son frère Rezin. Les versions modernes présentent les mêmes caractéristiques de base que les premiers modèles.

Le couteau Bowie classique possède une lame clip-point de 18 à 30 cm de long, un dos épais et, généralement, une garde double face pour protéger la main. Cette géométrie en fait un couteau populaire pour la survie et diverses tâches lourdes.
