The rugged construction of the knife is based on a single steel blank forging, while the outstanding ergonomics of the clever handle scale design have been enthusiastically accepted by legions of hunters. The handle as whole and the surfaces on the parrying element and pommel are more rounded to optimize handling and also to further enhance the elegant visual appeal. In addition, the handle scales are precision-milled to minimize manufacturing tolerances, thus improving component fit and ergonomics to the maximum achievable level. The blade 118 mm grind was converted from the previous hollow grind to a flat grind to increase strength. As before, the trusted 440C is used as the blade steel. Shipped with leather sheath. Wood Jewel Little knife (Pikkupuukko) is a fine piece of handcraft made in the Finnish part of Lapland in a traditional northern Scandinavian way. The blade is 5.7cm (a little over 2 inches) long, very sharp, and is made from Quality High Carbon Steel hardened to HRC 63-65 and tempered to HRC 59 to balance ductility and brittleness. The blade extends with an internal tang secured to the top of the handle with a rivet. The blade is natural unpolished carbon black except for the grind. The handle is made from a combination of curly birch, thin layers of leather and reindeer antler. It has a well designed shape which fits well in the hand and it it is finished off very smoothly without being slippery. The sheath is made from wet-formed cow hide and it has a reindeer leather belt hanger attached to it.
