Rendu célèbre par les régiments Gurkha servant sous la couronne britannique, le « kukri » est une lame népalaise polyvalente issue des anciennes épées grecques en forme de faucille. Il s’agit en fin de compte d’une machette dotée d’un tranchant très lourd et positionné vers l’avant, ce qui lui permet de fonctionner comme une hache tout en conservant la polyvalence d’une longue lame. Extrema Ratio a développé deux de ces outils, nos modèles KS et KH, mêlant concepts de design anciens et modernes. Les deux utilisent des moutures combinées. L'émouture creuse semblable à un rasoir est plus proche de la poignée et donne un bord fin et tranchant sans compromettre l'épaisseur totale du dos de la lame (qui nécessite une grande robustesse). La partie de pointe de la lame est plutôt plate, bien inclinée pour pénétrer sans effort dans le bois et la végétation. Alors que des outils similaires sont généralement fabriqués à partir d'alliages d'acier plus doux pour plus d'élasticité et de facilité d'affûtage, nous avons pu obtenir une élasticité adéquate en utilisant l'acier dur BÖHLER N690, ce qui donne un bord remarquable et durable.
