Zwar verleiht BlackWash dem Klappmesser eine einzigartige abgenutzte Optik, aber es geht bei diesem Finish nicht nur um das Äußere. Diese Beschichtung bietet zusätzlichen Schutz für das Metall und hilft dabei, mögliche Gebrauchsspuren wie z.B. Kratzer zu kaschieren. Das Aftereffect ist ein kleines, leichtes Messer, das in der Tasche und auch am Schlüsselbund getragen werden kann. Es hat ein auffälliges, blaues Lanyard-Loch am Griffende. Die Klinge mit einer Länge von 4,4 cm besteht aus gutem 8Cr13MoV Stahl, der rostfrei und gut nachzuschärfen ist. Mit dem beidseitig angebrachten Daumenpin kann das Aftereffect einhändig geöffnet werden, und die Klingensicherung erfolgt dann mit einem starken Liner-Lock. Auch ein Clip gehört zur Ausstattung. Das Design stammt unverkennbar von Jens Anso.

Emerson CQC-5K folder is collaboration between Kershaw Knives and Emerson Knives, which combines the precision engineering of Kershaw with Emerson's uncompromising functional design.
The CQC-5K features a modified clip-point blade for versatile cutting capability. Black-oxide coating protects the blade and makes it non-reflective, too. G-10 handles in olive drab provide secure grip and a locking liner means safe and solid blade lock up.
The CQC-5K is a manual opener using either the thumb disk or the patented Emerson "wave shaped feature." This opening feature enables the knife to be opened as it is removed from the pocket. By the time the knife has been fully withdrawn from the pocket, the blade is deployed and ready for use. A small wave-shaped tab on the top of the blade is built to catch on the pocket seam, opening the knife as it comes out of the pocket. This instant-open feature is a favorite among military, rescue, and law enforcement knife users.
This knife design based off the Emerson Commander model without the recurve to the blade and the pocketclip is reversible for left- or right-handed carry. Knife is 4" closed. 3" black finish 8Cr14MoV stainless modified clip point blade.

Bei der Konzeption vom Select Fire Multitool wurde der Fokus auf seine Funktion als Messer gelegt. Vom Aufbau her bildet die Messerklinge - die sich manuell aufklappen lässt - das zentrale Element. Und diese Klinge leistet einfach gute Arbeit. Da sie aus 8Cr13MoV-Edelstahl gefertigt ist, ist sie robust und weist eine hohe Schnitthaltigkeit auf. Außerdem wurde sie glasperlengestrahlt - dadurch legt sie eine matte, weniger schmutzanfällige Oberfläche an den Tag.
