Bohler N690 Stahl ist ein korrosionsbeständiger Stahl, der mit Kobalt legiert ist. Stahlproduzent ist der österreichische Hüttenkonzern Bohler-Uddeholm AG. Stahl N690 kann auf 60-62 RHC gehärtet werden. Bohler N690 Stahlmesser rosten lange nicht und bleiben widerstandsfähig gegen verschiedene Belastungen, was besonders bei taktischen Messern und Überlebensmessern wichtig ist. Bei einer deutlich reduzierten Klingenlänge baut das  Böker Boy Scout Stag 112403 zudem wesentlich flacher, ist jedoch genau so robust und widerstandsfähig wie sein großer Bruder. Zur Steigerung der Präzision werden die Neusilberschalen CNC-gefertigt. Die hohlgeschliffene Klinge aus rostfreiem N690 wird von Böhler geschmiedet und trägt mit ihrer einprägsamem Form zum unvergleichlichen Erscheinungsbild des Scouts bei. Ein klassischer Backlock übernimmt die Verriegelung und hält die Klinge sicher offen. Die im Innern des Griffes verborgene Mechanik besteht aus einer Bolzenwippe und einer Feder. Bei ausgeklappter Klinge greift die Bolzenwippe in eine Aussparung der Klinge und arretiert sie dadurch. Das hintere Ende der Bolzenwippe wird nicht vollständig vom Griff verdeckt, sondern liegt aufgrund einer kleinen Aussparung am Griffrücken zum Teil frei, sodass sie betätigt werden kann. Wird nun das freiliegende hintere Ende der Bolzenwippe gedrückt, hebt sich der Haken aus der Kerbe, sodass sich die Arretierung löst und die Klinge eingeklappt werden kann. Die angenehm geformten Griffschalen aus echtem Hirschhorn runden das harmonische Bild des Klassikers ab.
