Bohler N690 steel is a corrosion-resistant steel alloyed with cobalt. The steel producer is the Austrian metallurgical concern Bohler-Uddeholm AG. Steel N690 can be hardened to 60-62 RHC. Bohler N690 steel knives do not rust for a long time and remain resistant to various loads, which is especially important for tactical knives and survival knives. Therefore, such manufacturers as Extrema Ratio, Boker and others make knives from Bohler N690 steel. Bohler N690 steel knives are easy to sharpen.

The satin-finished blade is made of ice-hardened N690 with 60 to 61 HRC, opened and unlocked with two hands by nail nick. It is equipped with a modern, elongated ricasso, the slipjoint's operating safety is increased by a 90° stop when opening and closing. The characteristic teardrop shape of the Barlow can be traced back to the English pocket knives of the 17th century, making it certainly one of the oldest models of all. This model is a new interpretation of old versions with shorter bolsters and a blade of nitrogen-alloyed N690. It has a modern elongated ricasso and a slipjoint made more secure with a 90-degree lock-in when opening or closing.
