Il Caimano Nero è un coltello tattico fornito al G.O.I., Gruppo Operativo Incursori della Marina Militare Italiana, e progettato da Extrema Ratio, fornitore ufficiale COMSUBIN. Il suo nome è un riferimento e un omaggio agli eroici Caimani Neri del Piave, un'unità degli Arditi della Regia Marina, che durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale attraversavano a nuoto il fiume Piave per compiere incursioni in territorio nemico. Si tratta di un coltello automatico con lama asimmetrica a punta di lancia da 4 mm e un falso filo parzialmente affilato per migliorare il coefficiente di penetrazione. La parte seghettata del filo permette di tagliare cavi e tessuti altamente resistenti senza perdere l'affilatura. È un coltello pieghevole di medie dimensioni con una struttura robusta. È leggero e bilanciato grazie ai numerosi processi di asportazione di materiale applicati alle guancette in alluminio ad alto spessore. Il pomolo, che richiama la forma della sezione di coda/propulsione del Siluro a lenta corsa (S.L.C.), è progettato per facilitare l'estrazione rapida del coltello dalla tasca. And funnily enough it is a type of invention that makes you think: why didn't anyone come up with this before? The blade 75 mm is made from Böhler N690 steel, stonewashed coating. A tough, fine type of steel that retains its sharpness well and is also easy to sharpen. N690 is also stainless. An excellent combination of desirable factors for an EDC pocket knife.
