The Kershaw Copper Natrix has a D2 steel blade 83mm long a high-carbon tool steel that’s highly wear resistant, tough, and offers excellent edge retention. The denser-that-steel copper handle gives the knife has some heft—but it still comes in under five ounces. Over time, the copper will take on a patina, making each copper Natrix unique.
Kershaw ist eine der bekanntesten Marken für Klappmesser und wurde 1974 von Pete Kershaw in Oregon, USA, gegründet. Pete arbeitete zuvor bei Gerber und beschloss, seine eigene Messerlinie zu kreieren. 1978 wurde die Marke Teil des japanischen Konzerns KAI Group. Heute produziert Kershaw Messer sowohl in den USA (Oregon) als auch in Japan. Die Marke ist für ihre innovativen Technologien bekannt. So führte das Unternehmen in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Meister Ken Onion den SpeedSafe-Mechanismus ein – ein unterstütztes Klingenöffnungssystem. Später führte die Marke die Technologie zur Herstellung von Verbundklingen aus zwei Stahlsorten ein.
Kershaw arbeitet mit den weltbesten Messerdesignern zusammen. Zu den namhaften Designern von Kershaw-Modellen zählen Ken Onion, Rick Hinderer, Grant und Gavin Hawk. Die Marke verwendet bewährte Stähle (AUS-8, Sandvik, S30V) und fortschrittliche Beschichtungen (Stonewash, DLC, Bead Blast) und experimentiert auch mit Griffmaterialien – von Flugzeugaluminium bis hin zu Carbon und Titan. Das Kershaw-Sortiment ist sehr vielfältig. Die Marke produziert erschwingliche EDC-Klappmesser, fortschrittlichere Modelle mit modernen Stählen und sogar Küchenserien. Viele Kollektionen – Blur, Leek, Cryo, Dividend – sind zu echten Bestsellern geworden. Automatische Messer (zum Beispiel die Launch-Serie) nehmen einen besonderen Platz im Sortiment ein.
