This unique 1000-grit Suehiro whetstone is a limited edition. The stone is cold-cured from WA abrasives using magnesium oxide as a binder. Blanks were aged for 15-20 years. The result is a hard, "clean" working surface, providing a very pleasant and controlled sharpening experience. For the sharpest finishing edge, we recommend using Nagura stone slurry (an optional honing accessory). This unique Suehiro whetstone is highly wear-resistant and lasts longer than typical synthetic water stones, while maintaining a smooth and consistent feel. The quality of this product has been confirmed by high-temperature (100°C) and dry storage tests for synthetic abrasives. Due to extended storage at room temperature, color irregularities or patterns may appear on the surface; this does not affect the performance of the stone. The kit also includes a WA #500 Nagura stone for restoring the surface of the main stone. After use, it is recommended to clean the stone's surface and remove any moisture. Due to the technology involved, uneven coloring and pattern variations are possible. Stone size: 182 x 60 x 10 mm. An ABS plastic stand is also included.
Suehiro, a Japanese waterstone manufacturer from Niigita province in Japan, has a long history of producing high quality, yet affordable ‘toishi’ (sharpening stones). For many years now, they have produced an outstanding range of sharpening stones and continue to produce them today. Quality is of utmost importance to Suehiro and that is made evident in his sharpening stones.
