The extraordinary Boker M4 Sherman-Damascus folder is a piece of living history and combines high-quality craftsmanship with historical materials. The American M4 Sherman was already designed in 1940 and is still considered one of the most famous tanks in history. It was produced between 1942 and 1945, was in service until 1957 and was used on all battlefields of the Second World War.  
The Boker Sherman-Damascus is equipped with a unique damascus blade, forged from different materials from the production of M4 Sherman tanks, which were previously restored by the museum. The unique damascus is forged by hand for us by Chad Nichols in the Customized Ladder pattern and is reminiscent of the tank tracks left in the ground by the heavy chains of the M4 Sherman. The ball bearing blade is opened by thumb stud and locked by a solid steel frame lock, a Hinderer Lock-Stop acts as overstretch protection for the lock.
The overall shape of the knife is a tribute to the aesthetic lines of the armour, while the decorative blade axle screw is modelled on the characteristic main drive sprocket. The slightly contoured burlap micarta handle fits comfortably in the hand and the colour is reminiscent of the camouflage paint used by both the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps. With lanyard hole and practical deep carry clip (tip-up/r). Handmade in the Boker knife manufactory in Solingen. Delivery with noble floating display, certificate of authenticity and individual serial number. Weight 107 g.

Bei der Klinge des Sherman EDC verarbeiten wir zum ersten Mal Magnacut, der nicht zu Unrecht als Wunderstahl gefeiert wird. Dieser Stahl wurde - anders als die üblicherweise verwendeten Werkzeugstähle - speziell für den Messerbau entwickelt. Die drei wünschenswerten Eigenschaften eines Stahles Schnitthaltigkeit, Zähigkeit und Rostträgheit (rostfrei in Kategorie der DIN) stellen einen Zielkonflikt dar. Um den Stahl rostträge zu bekommen ist der Zusatz von Chrom erforderlich, der das Gefüge unter normalen Bedingungen grob, spröde und bruchanfällig macht. Hohe Härte, die die Schnitthaltigkeit positiv beeinflusst geht i.d.R. zu Lasten der Zähigkeit. Beim Magnacut ist es gelungen trotz des hohen Chromgehaltes von 10,7% und einer beeindruckenden Härtbarkeit von über 62HRC ein sehr feines Gefüge und damit hohe Zähigkeit und Schocklastverträglichkeit zu erzielen. Eine zentrale Rolle spielt hierbei der Zusatz von Stickstoff. Stickstoff ist eigentlich ein Stahlschädling in der Legierung. Unter anderem durch eine ausgeklügelte Wärmebehandlung wird der Stickstoff des Magnacut jedoch in die kristalline Gitterstruktur des Stahlgefüges eingebunden und erreicht so die sich andernfalls wiedersprechenden Werkstoffeigenschaften.
Der zentrale bauliche Unterschied zum M4-Damast-Modell ist der elegant in die Linienführung integrierte Flipper, der die Klinge mit kleinem Impuls weich aufgleiten lässt und zum Spielen einlädt. Die kugelgelagerte Klinge wird alternativ per Daumenpin geöffnet und von einem stabilen Titan-Framelock mit Stonewash-Finish arretiert, ein Overdrive-Stop fungiert als Überdehnschutz für die Verriegelung. Der gefrästem Titan-Clip (Tip-up/r) mit Stahlkugel sowie die Griffschalen aus wilder Kohlefaser vervollständigen das stimmige Gesamtbild. Ein besonderes Highlight des Böker Sherman EDC bildet der überstehende Backspacer aus Damast, der mit einem Lanyard-Hole in Langlochausführung ausgestattet ist. Der Damast des Backspacers wurde aus verschiedenen Materialien aus der Produktion von M4 Sherman-Panzern von Chad Nichols im Muster Customized Ladder geschmiedet und erinnert an die Panzerspuren, die von den schweren Ketten des M4 Sherman im Boden zurückbleiben.
