Böker Plus Dog Tag is a small neck-folder by John Kubasek, who is already known to many as the designer of the successful Credit Card Knife. John Kubasek has now taken the "Backup Knife" topic one step further and presents the 24 gram light-weight Dog Tag Knife. Like its namesake, it is carried around the neck on a ball chain and boasts a thickness of less than 4 mm when retracted (measured without blade pivot point). The chisel grind (single-sided blade grind) provides maximum carrying and operating safety by contacting the titanium liner as closely as possible with the flat backside of the edge. A clever magnetic mechanism also secures the neck knife in the retracted and deployed state; in each case, the action is strictly accomplished with magnetic force, but with a true locking mechanism instead. As a result, accidental deployment is eliminated even when engaged in active/dynamic activities. The Böker Plus Urd 2.0 is a solid fixed knife, made to carry around your neck with a sleak kydex sheath. The Urd was designed by Dirk Hofmeister. Remarkable about the Urd is the handle. At first glance it might look a little strange. However, once you hold it you notice how ingenious this design is. Your fingers automatically fall into the grooves of the handle. You place your thumb on top of the blade in the cut-out. The knife will now properly be secured in hand and won't go anywhere. As a result you can safely use the Urd despite its size. The cleaver-style blade of the Urd is made from a 4.7 mm thick piece of D2-steel. A type of tool steel that is similar to stainless steel but can stain during long-term exposure to acids. Rainer Wenning, who has already developed the Böker Plus pocket sticks SO4PRO-K, and the knifemaker Thomas Braunagel (BFK) designed it. The use of a bayonet mechanism is revolutionary. In purely functional terms, the bayonet mechanism significantly increases operating comfort, as neither a cap has to be unscrewed nor the lead unscrewed for writing.
The bayonet slide can be operated just as quickly as the classic push button and guarantees an absolutely secure grip when used as a tactical pen, since the thumb can rest securely on the pen head. At least as important in civilian use is the guaranteed satisfaction of the male play instinct through the use of the high-quality bayonet lock. Now you can counter the annoying click of nervous users of plastic pens with the rich sound of the all-metal bayonet fitting.
