History of Case knives

W.R.Case & Sons Cutlery begins its history in 1889, when four brothers William Russell (W.R.), Jean, John, and Andrew Case (a.k.a. “The Case Brothers”) began making knives and selling them near their home, offering them to passengers on a train traveling to New York. Their exceptional quality, unusual style of execution, and original finishing methods were so different from other products of this kind that they soon brought their creators considerable fame.

Today, the distinctive feature of all Case knives is their loyalty to the old American style. The construction itself, design elements, and materials have undergone minimal changes. At the same time, all knives are unique and differ in appearance and feel in the hand.

Popular Case pocket knife models

The Case knife line includes models that are rightly considered classics and benchmarks of American folding knives. These include Trapper, Stockman, Sod Buster and Canoe — knives with recognizable shapes, differing both in design features and in the number of blades.

  • Trapper: This knife format is easy to recognize thanks to its two blades (most often clip point and spey). It is a universal solution for both everyday tasks and outdoor use.
  • Stockman: Represents a classic knife with three blades (clip point, sheepsfoot and spey), designed to perform a wide range of tasks. This is one of the most multifunctional models in the Case range.
  • Canoe: A compact knife with two blades, often featuring a symmetrical construction and a characteristic handle shape. Perfect for everyday carry and light tasks.
  • Sod Buster: This knife is distinguished by its simplicity and utilitarian nature. It is equipped with a single blade and has no unnecessary elements, making it an ideal choice for everyday use as a working tool.

This variety ensures the convenience of using Case knives for a wide range of tasks.

A Case pocket knife is suitable for everyday use, as well as a collector’s item. After all, the Case collectors club is the largest in the world in terms of number of members.
