BattleCord is a heavy-duty version of the classic paracord, developed for extreme loads by Atwood Rope MFG. Unlike standard 550 paracord, BattleCord has a significantly higher breaking strength (up to 2,650 pounds or 1,202 kilograms). Its diameter is usually 6 mm.
BattleCord consists of a nylon outer sheath and seven inner strands, each of which on its own can withstand a force of up to 150-158 kilograms (350 pounds). Note that, unlike 550 paracord, BattleCord has very low stretch, it is stiffer. It is resistant to UV radiation, water, does not rot, and does not become moldy.
It is important to note that despite its strength, BattleCord is not certified as mountaineering equipment and is not intended for use in rock climbing.
