Ka-Bar TDI Investigator fixed knife5" (12.7cm) overall. The knife has a 2.75" (6.99cm) black finish AUS-8A stainless blade. Black FRN handle. Full tang. Black Kydex sheath. Boxed with hanging tab. KA1493 knife is a smaller more discreet version of the TDI Law Enforcement 1482. The TDI Investigator provides a discreet backup when you back is against the wall. Designed to protect law enforcement officers, this knife clips onto a belt for those times when an officer's firearm isn't an option. The drop point blade is made from AUS-8A stainless steel with a tactical black coating that reduces visibility. The nylon handles are similarly black in coloration and provide a good grip for use in a pinch. The clip sheath is made from hard molded plastic and keeps the knife safe and secure when not in use.
Ka-Bar produces military and tactical knives, knives for hunting and tourism, as well as folding knives with consistently high quality and reliability. Ka-Bar knives are well known since 1942. The history of KA-BAR goes much further back than 1942. In 1897, 38 men formed the Tidioute Cutlery Company which is seen as the predecessor to KA-BAR. In 1923 the company, known now as Union Cutlery Co., received a letter from a hunter. He was attacked by a bear and when his rifle refused, the knife he had bought from Union Cutlery helped him to kill the bear. The letter itself was not totally legible anymore and the only letters that stood out from the line “killed a bear” were K A and B AR”. From then on the company decided to change their name to KA-BAR. One by one they are extremely durable knives.
