Byrd Cara Cara 2 Emerson is a fastest byrd ever. This dynamic expression of the Cara Cara 2 Lightweight combines all the proven qualities of this popular model with the extreme deployment speed of an Emerson Opener. Invented by noted custom knifemaker Ernest Emerson, this integral hook on the spine of the blade snags the pocket as the knife is drawn, opening the knife in the blink of an eye. The full-flat-ground 3.75" (95 mm) blade of this knife is crafted from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, is available with a choice of edge configurations, and is paired with a lightweight handle featuring non-slip injection-molded FRN scales, skeletonized stainless steel liners, a stout back lock, and a four-position hourglass clip. Weight 3.1 oz. (88 g).
The key features of Byrd folding knives include a classic, simple design reminiscent of Spyderco, as well as a bird's-beak-shaped opening on the blade. The most popular models include the Cara Cara 2, Meadowlark 2, Robin 2, and others. Byrd knives are also distinguished by their affordable price. This is due to the fact that Spyderco manufactures Byrd knives not in Japan or the USA, but at partner factories in Asia. Nevertheless, Byrd knives are of excellent quality and make a good choice as an EDC knife.
