Rough Rider Knives is an American brand that makes high-quality and affordable folding and hunting knives in a classic style. The brand's name comes from the First Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, known as the "Rough Riders," which was formed in 1898 to fight in the Spanish-American War and led by future President Theodore Roosevelt. Legend has it that out of 23,000 volunteers, Roosevelt personally selected only 2,000 of the most worthy men from across the country. The brand, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, adheres to this hand-selection philosophy.
The Rough Rider product line primarily includes pocket and hunting knives. Particularly popular are classic folding knife models such as the Trapper (with two blades: clip-point and spey-point), Barlow, and Stockman (with three blades). These knives are traditionally American and evoke the days of cowboys and pioneers. Rough Rider knives are manufactured primarily in China, allowing them to maintain very affordable prices while maintaining a high level of quality. Most models are made from 440 or 420 stainless steel, suitable for everyday use.
