This version transforms the simple Japanese Higonokami folding knife into a miniature work of art. The Damascus blade is crafted from laminated Aogami steel. The blade is 8 cm long and features a friction lock. The traditional brass handle is adorned with an engraved tiger motif. Nagao Kanekoma has been producing Higonokami knives for over 100 years.
Kanekoma is the only official manufacturer of authentic Higonokami knives, preserving the tradition since 1894. These knives remain their calling card to this day. In the 20th century, even schoolchildren carried Higonokami friction pocket knives. Today, they are becoming fashionable again, thanks to their authentic design and ease of use. Each Kanekoma knife goes through 13 stages of manual processing: from blade forging to felt polishing. Most blades are made of Aogami steel. The handle is made of brass or stainless steel, the friction-folder mechanism - everything is like in 1894. True, today the range has expanded to more expensive models with wooden handles, and small sheath-keychains with a cover. Today, Kanekoma is the last factory that has the rights to the Higonokami brand. The Nagao family has been preserving the tradition for 5 generations.
