We offer products only from verified manufacturers who guarantee the quality of the goods they produce. Some of the manufacturers we represent provide a lifetime warranty on their products if used properly. Based on current legislation and information from the manufacturers, we offer a limited warranty, after which you can contact the manufacturer directly, providing the place of purchase and the relevant documents.
The warranty covers defects caused by manufacturing faults or the use of low-quality materials. We trust the suppliers we work with and pay great attention to quality, so cases of defects are extremely rare. Before shipment, we thoroughly check the products and take photos on shipping documents.
The warranty does not cover:
-
Damage resulting from accidental or deliberate misuse of the product, including damage caused by drops, impacts, etc.
-
Cases of improper handling of the knife, resulting in defects, breakage, cuts, scratches, or other damage. Improper handling includes, in particular: throwing, hitting, chopping hard objects, heating the product or any of its parts, using the knife instead of another tool, improper or insufficient care, exposure to aggressive environments, heavy contamination, attempts at self-repair or modification. Please note that such actions void the manufacturer's responsibility. We would like to remind you that the function of a knife is cutting, and using it for any other purposes voids the warranty. Exceptions are knives specifically designed for certain purposes. For example, when a blade of a particular shape is designed for chopping, or a spine saw is designed for sawing—these cases are covered by the warranty. Knives are not intended for impacts and should not be used as prying tools, so a broken tip of the blade is not covered by the warranty. Batoning (driving the blade into a log with hammer blows) with knives made of hard steels (HRC 58+) can result in blade breakage at stress points, and such use of the knife is not covered by the warranty. Please use an axe instead.
-
The appearance of rust, even on corrosion-resistant steels. Rust is a natural process when iron in alloys comes into contact with oxygen and water. Under certain conditions, rust can appear even on corrosion-resistant steels, and this is not a manufacturer defect. Keep your knife away from moisture and maintain the blade to prevent corrosion. Knives made of high-carbon steels require regular wiping and protection from dampness. Many Japanese knives, for example, are very sensitive to aggressive environments (lemon juice, acids, etc.) and high humidity. Corrosion of steel is not covered under warranty for any knives.
-
Natural wear of the knife.
-
Material defects arising not during production, but from incorrect use, such as damage to a wooden handle from prolonged exposure to a humid or excessively dry environment, damage to plastic from overheating, etc.
-
Minor size differences from the stated dimensions. For manufacturers where most production steps are done by hand, sizes may slightly differ from those stated. A difference of a few millimeters from the stated size is not a warranty case.
-
Damage to throwing knives. Even a high-quality throwing knife can break if thrown incorrectly, due to wear over time, or from hitting a hard surface. No throwing knife damage is covered under warranty.
-
Damage or chipping of the thin, hard cutting edge of kitchen knives caused by using the knife to cut hard products (bones, frozen foods, etc.).
-
The tip of the kitchen knife breaking off from attempts to pry, hook something, or from trying to cut too hard products.
-
Damage and deterioration of kitchen knives due to washing in a dishwasher. Do not wash knives in the dishwasher! If a knife is dishwasher safe, it will be specifically indicated.
-
Detachment of the handle of Japanese kitchen knives or movement of the tang inside the handle. Traditional Japanese knives have removable and replaceable handles. Due to load, humidity changes, or other reasons, the tang may start to move slightly inside the handle. This is not a defect or a warranty case, but a normal occurrence due to the design and installation features of the handle. If the tang starts moving or falls out, please contact our customer service for instructions on how to repair it at home.
-
Damage to packaging. For products damaged during transportation, the warranty applies if the customer chose insured delivery. The warranty does not cover the boxes or packaging from the manufacturer.
- Outlet items marked as Outlet with defects indicated on the product page are not covered by the warranty and are not eligible for return.
Take care of your knife. Please choose the right tool for specific purposes, and use the cutting edge for cutting. Your knife will proudly serve you for a very long time.
Please note that the manufacturer is responsible for the quality of the products, and only the manufacturer makes the final decision on whether a case is covered by the warranty. Refund or replacement is only made after the manufacturer's confirmation of a warranty case.
In case of a warranty issue, please send a description of the problem and photos to the email cs@mygoodknife.fi. We are confident we will resolve the issue.
