Extrema Ratio Pocket Knives

Extrema Ratio folding knives combine military durability and simple civilian functionality. Initially, the brand, founded in 1997 in Italy, developed knives for special forces. Almost all Extrema Ratio folding knives are made using high-quality Böhler N690 steel and anodized aluminum. Some models use M390 steel. Among the popular series of folding knives are:

- BF (Basic Folder): Compact and lightweight knives such as BF1 and BF2 are ideal for everyday use.

- BD2 and BD4 are tactical folding knives with a double guard. Contractor versions are equipped with double-edged blades.

- MF (Medium Folder): Models MF1 and MF2 are designed for tactical tasks and can replace a knife with a fixed blade in functionality. Equipped with a glass breaker and a reversible clip.

- MF1 Evo — an updated series with an improved Hidden Lock and blades made of M390/N690 steel.

- Ant — compact EDC knives with a 5 cm blade, popular for everyday carry.

- RAO - Powerful knives with a unique locking system, designed for heavy tactical tasks.

Many series of Extrema Ratio folding knives feature special rescue versions designed for use in extreme conditions. All knives are equipped with pocket clips that can be rearranged to a convenient side. Most series feature knives with Spear Point, Drop point and Sheepfoot profiles. Boatswain's knife. Thanks to extremely compact shape typical of BF Extrema Ratio models, the extraction of the knife from the pocket becomes easier and it prevents the tool from entangling, a crucial detail in case of emergency. The blade has a flat grinding which allows symmetrical cutting jobs symmetrical with wider support. On the other hand the tip which is thick and durable thanks to the “tanto” version, allows a greater penetration and a more clean and precise cut.The aluminum handle, has the typical "Tactical" structure, already used in the past on the BF models.It has got a pattern of concentric circles giving the handle an additional grip. This structure enables the rinsing of the handle from salt, or organic material, very important considering its primary use in the naval environment. In the central part of the handle its placed a small slot to allow to lock or unlock small wrenches. In the right part of the handle, in correspondence of the liner lock, a steel plate is placed to give a more solid structure to the slot. The BF2 V comes with just one stone washed finishing to find it easier. The same finishing is proposed for the accessories: •reversible clip applicable on both right or left side of handle. •screw regulation system with 12 positions to control the closing and opening of the blade. •marlin sparkle on the tang of the handle with a length of 70mm to untie knots in ropes or thick cords. In opened position it is fixed by a steel mechanism easy to activate and placed inside the handle in order to feel it while handling the knife. It comes with a plastic lanyard with a fix to be fix to the belt, with a joint to allow the different placements and with a quick release simply pushing of the clip button. The length and flexibility of the lanyard allows to work with the tool in the maximum operating area what a shorter lanyard would not allow

It is the non-automatic version of the tactical knife that Extrema Ratio has supplied to the G.O.I. (Operational Raiders Group) of the Italian Navy. The blade is a 4 mm thick asymmetrical spear point. The serrated part of the edge allows to cut highly-resistant cables and fabrics without losing its sharpening. With an overall length of 5.7” (165 mm) and a weight of just  52 g the Extrema Ratio BDØ R is an extremely light and slim knife which makes it an ideal EDC choice. It is characterized by a very slim profile with a focus on lightness. The blade is made in Bohler N690 steel hardened to 58 HRC, 2.36” (60mm) long, 0.1” (2.5 mm) thick, with a plain sharpening and a faux edge on the first third of the spine. MF0 Black T Ruvido is a smallest knife from Extrema Ratio MF series. MF stands for Medium Folder: a product line positioning itself between the BF (Basic Folder) and the Heavy Folder lines. MF knives employ the LINER-LOCK mechanism and are distinguished for their sturdiness; all are equipped with a glass-breaker. An innovative supplementary screw can be unlocked to enable fine-tuning of the main screw, adjusting opening speed to taste. Hemispheric milling marks on handles make it easier to change from saber-style to reverse grip. Clips are reversible. Model MF0 is “the little one” amongst MF knives – basically a compact version of the MF1. It retains all the characteristics of MF1 but has a downsized handle and shortened blade, similar to our SHRAPNEL “back-up” knife.

Extrema Ratio Resolza 10 is a folding knife that pays homage to centuries of Italian tradition. The traditional Sardinian resolza is one of the most famous knives in Italy. To this day, it is a constant companion of island farmers and shepherds in their daily work. The knife accompanied them even when people were called to war: in the chronicles of Sassari during the First World War, the knife is mentioned as part of soldiers' equipment. Resolza 10 is an attempt to redefine the traditional silhouette in accordance with the modern Extrema Ratio standards, so as not to overlook the Sardinian craftsmen, who still practice ingrained knife-making techniques and preserve ancient traditions. Resolza 10 retains its original dimensions and proportions, but is manufactured using high quality materials and modern company technologies. The handle has been redesigned, and the blade is more closely approximated to the traditional shape.
