Japanese Whetstones and sharpening stones

Japanese whetstones are ideal for sharpening kitchen knives. They are intended for manual sharpening of the blade with the obligatory use of water. Japanese sharpening tones come in different grain sizes: from 100 to several thousand grits. Whetstones from 300 to 700 grit can be used to sharpen very dull knives. Japanese whetstone with a 1000 grit is suitable for almost any kitchen knives, and 3000 grit is suitable for Japanese knives. Stones with a grit of 6000 grit and 8000 are suitable for final sharpening of the blade.
