The word 'Leatherneck' has become synonymous with the famous U.S. Marines since 1776 when Congress compelled all Marines to wear a thick, high leather collar (known in the vernacular of the day as a "stock"). This collar served two purposes; first, it helped protect one's neck from sword and cutlass blows, and second, it forced a Marine to keep his head up straight, exhibiting the military posture that was fashionable at the time. Today, after two centuries of personal sacrifice on and off the battlefield, our Leathernecks enjoy the love, respect, and admiration of every true American and it is to them we dedicate this series of battle ready knives. The series has two distinct blade styles. Both are made from D2 steel and finished with a rich Tuff-Ex&trage; non reflective coating: •The Leatherneck-SF (for Semper-Fi) has a saber ground clip point blade. It's hollow ground and honed by hand to a startling razor sharpness. •The Leatherneck-Tanto features a Cold Steel style Tanto blade. It's incredibly sharp blade is 7" long and hollow ground by hand. To keep the fingers from sliding forward onto their keen edge, the Leathernecks come with a substantial guard. It's made of thick steel with double quillons that are turned slightly forward and provide excellent protection for your hand (especially in close combat) while offering minimal interference in the use of these knives when performing utility tasks. Tactical knife Böker Plus V-42 Devil's Brigade 2.1 02BO109 exclusive collector´s dagger is a modern version of the WWII Devil's Brigade combat knife. An important piece of equipment of the Devil's Brigade was the specially designed V-42 combat knife which was also part of the intensive close combat training. The handle of compressed leather discs ends in a pointed impact cap. A thick leather padding underneath the slightly curved pommel had to prevent injuries. The two-edged blade 178 mm made of the non-stainless carbon steel SK-85 is coated and features a corrugated thumb rest around the area of the Ricasso. To this day the crest of the Special Forces of the US Army adorns this legendary dagger. Overall 304 mm. Weight 196 g. The dagger comes with classic leather sheath, but also with a replica of the cloth insignia of the unit which is the red spearhead and with a reproduction of the original German sticker with the text "The worst is yet to come!". Additionally, it shows the 1st SSF label that used to be stuck on walls, cars, doors etc. behind enemy lines in order to demoralize the enemy.
