The Ahti Kaira is a Finnish knife with a wide, short blade, designed for everyday work, hunting, and outdoor use. The blade's shape provides excellent cutting control, making it convenient for household chores and camping. Its compact size makes it easy to carry. The blade is crafted from high-carbon steel with added vanadium. This alloy is characterized by high hardness, excellent edge retention, and superior cutting properties. The addition of vanadium increases the steel's wear resistance. Like any carbon steel knife, the Ahti Kaira requires minimal maintenance: after use, wipe the blade dry and store it in a dry place. The handle is made of heat-treated Karelian birch. Heat treatment increases the wood's resistance to moisture and temperature fluctuations, improves its stability, and imparts a rich, dark hue with a distinctive natural texture. The knife comes with a durable leather sheath that securely holds it in place and allows it to be comfortably worn on a belt. The traditional Finnish sheath design provides quick access to the knife and secure storage.
Ahti knives are traditional Finnish knives made in the town of Kauhava. Blacksmith Reino Kamppila and his son have been handcrafting Ahti knives for decades. Each Ahti knife comes with a leather sheath.
