The traditional Japanese Higonokami folding knife features a brass handle with a wooden scale, giving it a classic look and a comfortable grip. The 8 cm long blade is crafted from Aogami (Blue Paper Steel), a high-carbon steel renowned for its high hardness, excellent edge retention, and superior cutting properties. Like any carbon steel, Aogami requires care: after use, it is recommended to wipe the blade dry and store it in a dry place.
Nagao Kanekoma has been producing original Higonokami knives for over a century, maintaining the traditional design and hand assembly. The knife does not have a traditional lock—the blade is held open by friction and the signature chikiri lever, making it lightweight, reliable, and convenient for everyday use. Weighing approximately 65 grams, it is practically unnoticeable in a pocket and is ideal for everyday tasks, travel, and outdoor work.
