Asahi is a synthetic rubber cutting board introduced back in 1965. Asahi's professional cutting boards are used in many restaurants worldwide, and this product has also found its way into the kitchens of quality-conscious home cooks. However, there are restaurants in Japan that are still using over 30 years old boards, which says a lot about the product's durability.

The board is more rigid than competing rubber boards. However, the feel of the cut reveals that Asahi feels closer to a wooden board than a plastic board. The synthetic rubber board does contain wood powder. The board will last a very long time without scratching. The surface of the board is not slippery.
