This Japanese sujihiki slicer is crafted by renowned master Takeshi Saji. The blade is forged from 31 layers of VG10 nickel-plated steel. The handle features buffalo bone scales and brass bolsters. The knife weighs approximately 345 g. This knife is ideal for finely slicing meat, fish, and other foods. This premium, handcrafted Japanese kitchen knife makes a beautiful and useful gift for both men and women. Takeshi Saji is one of the finest Japanese smiths creating traditional Japanese kitchen knives. In 1994, he was appointed "Master Guardian of Traditional Crafts." The Takeshi Saji sujihiki knife comes in a branded box.
The famous Japanese blacksmith master Takeshi Saji was born in 1948 in the city of Takefu (Fakui province). This region is historically famous throughout Japan for its magnificent forged knives. Japanese knives hand-forged by master Saji Takeshi are the choice of professional chefs and collectors around the world.
The master experiments with various forging techniques, including multi-layer Damascus steel and unique hardening methods, which ensures incredible strength and durability. The knife handles are made of premium materials, such as ebony, bone, rosewood. Each knife comes in an individual box. Saji Takeshi knives do not have paper certificates, since each blade has a unique master's mark.
Saji-san mainly makes double bevel Japanese kitchen knives such as a chef's knife and santoku.
Master Saji has repeatedly received awards from the Fakui prefectural government and is a member of the Japanese guild of knife masters. In 1992, he was appointed “Traditional Master Craftsman” by the Japanese “Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry”. Takeshi Saji knives are the embodiment of Japanese traditions and quality.
