The Bonten Unryu is one of the signature lines by Ryusen. It is considered as one of the best VG10 line by any Japanese maker, because of its unmatched artistics and more importantly, their VG10 blades are hande forged one-by-one. The blade of the Unryu wa series, is constructed identical as the western handle Unryu series. It has a core of VG-10, with 63 layers of stainless damascus steel. The blade is relatively thin, with a medium / light weight, but not as thin as a laser. Due to the classic Japanese perfectly shaped octagonal handle, it is easy to control and effortlessly will do exactly what it is made for cutting perfectly. The Rockwell hardness on this knife is around 60-62 HRC, for a durable edge. Ryusen Hamono Gyuto knife goes in black gift box.

Ryusen Hamono is a Japanese blacksmith workshop from the Echizen region (Fukui Prefecture), founded in 1953. The company inherited the traditions of local blacksmiths, whose history goes back more than 700 years. Ryusen Hamono became one of the few factories that received official recognition as a manufacturer of Echizen Uchihamono knives - products included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of Japan.
Ryusen Hamono knives are handcrafted using high-grade steels such as VG-10, SG2 and R2. , A distinctive feature is the multi-layered Damascus blades with unique wave patterns. All stages of the production of these knives - from forging and hardening to grinding and polishing - are performed by hand.
Ryusen Hamono produces various series of kitchen knives, each of which has its own specifics. The Huoenryu series ("Blazing Dragon") features unique blades made from two steels - VG10 and VG2, as well as bright handles. The premium Tangan RYU series was created specifically taking into account the wishes of professional chefs. Therefore, the knives are perfectly balanced, and the blades made of VG10 steel in Damascus cladding are durable and resistant to corrosion. The Prever series combines elegant and comfortable walnut handles and a unique Damascus steel pattern. Many Ryusen Hamono knives have been awarded prizes at international exhibitions for design and quality.
