    It’s from XIV century that in Maniago, town located in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 100 Km north-east from Venice, there is a knife manufacturing activity. The cutlery items production started with artisanal and homemade products and then, during the following years and centuries, the craftmen started organizing themselves, creating factories and starting to adopt industrial production systems. After several attempts to create a group of local manufacturers, in 1960 was born the Consorzio Coltellinai Maniago, association created by a group of Maniago companies with the goal of promoting worldwide local products that are supported by reliability and guarantee of a quality mark that rightly belong to “Made in Italy” style and that, also nowadays, keeps intact all the features linked to experience, accuracy and attention to the details that the very skilled Maniago craftmen have been able to perpetuate overtime.

   Since 2018 Maniago Knife Makers (MKM) is a collaboration of four of the larger knife manufacturers in Italy; LionSteel, Viper, FOX Knives, and Mercury.

   The MKM brand is represented by its polygonal line logo, which evokes the mountainous skyline that is the backdrop to Maniago. The slogan, “Climb the Edge”, is a call to action, which also makes subtle reference the cutting edge of the knives themselves. The goal is to reach the pinnacle of high quality with innovative ideas and hi-tech materials. MKM launches as the product brand for the consortium Maniago Knife Makers with a collection of sporting knives, made by local business network Mikita, the very best in the sector globally. On the Blade Show 2018 Fox, Viper, and Lionsteel shared a joint prize for MKM (Maniago Knives Makers), a collaboration project under the Mikita network.
